Day 5, October 8th - Lake Charles, LA to Hope, AR

Took off from lake Charles to Orange, Texas, then up to the Big Thicket country, passed through Shreveport and on to Hope AR. .

Orange Texas is home of one of our favorite all-time Welcome Centers. It has a boardwalk over a swamp, and we took lots of pictures looking for a contest winner.

Next stop was the Big Thicket National Preserve. We wandered down a trail in the woods, but didn't complete the trail because we were running so late. Notably, this park had the surliest NPS ranger we'd ever seen.
